Our wedding is taking place in the quiet countryside of Palmer, a small Texas town surrounded by beautiful open fields and peaceful scenic drives. If you have some extra time before or after the celebration, enjoy a relaxed drive through the area, stop by local parks, or unwind in the fresh air.
For something fun and nostalgic, the Galaxy Drive-In Theatre is just a short drive away and offers classic movies under the stars. You can also enjoy a glass (or two!) at Sugar Ridge Winery, a cozy local spot great for a casual tasting.
Most guests will be staying in Waxahachie, a charming historic town filled with unique shops, local dining, and beautiful architecture.
Stroll through Historic Downtown Waxahachie, visit the iconic Ellis County Courthouse, or enjoy a treat at one of the many cafés and bakeries. If you’re looking for something quirky and memorable, the Munster Mansion—a recreation of the home from The Munsters TV show—makes for a fun stop and great photos.
Family-Friendly Options
Waxahachie offers several kid-friendly activities, from indoor play spaces to local parks and walking trails. It’s a great area for families who want to explore without traveling far from the hotel.
For guests flying in or looking to make a weekend getaway out of the trip, Dallas offers plenty to enjoy just 30–45 minutes from Palmer and Waxahachie.
Spend an afternoon in Downtown Dallas or Uptown, featuring great restaurants, shopping, and walkable neighborhoods. If you’re into museums, check out the Dallas Museum of Art, Perot Museum of Nature & Science, or the Sixth Floor Museum overlooking Dealey Plaza.
For those who prefer outdoor time, the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden and Klyde Warren Park are beautiful, easy options for a relaxed outing. Sports lovers may enjoy catching a game if the Cowboys or Mavericks are in town that weekend.
October weather in Texas is usually mild, but evenings can be cooler — light layers recommended.
If you’re traveling between Waxahachie and Palmer, plan for a short drive and allow a bit of extra time.
Consider making brunch or downtown exploring part of your weekend plans — both towns offer easy, relaxed ways to enjoy your time before the festivities.
